About

Hi I’m Freya!

Based in Preston, with 10 years experience in the design industry. Professionally trained and passionate about illustration, arts, and crafts.

I’ve been drawing and creating stories since I was a child, I always loved art at school and chose to study Graphic Design, English Literature, and Media Studies at A-level. After college I was unsure of the career path I wanted to take, and enrolled on and English Literature bachelor’s degree, as the one thing I did know was that I loved stories. While I did love what I was studying, after a year I began to miss the opportunities for creativity I had at college and transferred onto a bachelor’s degree in interior design.

After completing my Bachelor’s Degree with upper second class honours, while working part time roles including a variety of projects from set designs for theatre and immersive cinema experiences; home renovations and kitchen and bathroom design; large format wallpaper graphics and experiential design features for retail; and large scale graphic design and illustrations for fairground rides; I secured my first ‘proper’ full time job as a graphic designer in an interior design department for a clothes retailer. I’ve had several different design roles since then, and with the focus my work often leaning towards more illustrative styles, I then added a master’s degree in Illustration to my list of qualifications.

I’m a collector of creative hobbies and have dabbled in almost every craft you can think of, in my spare time (if I’m not drawing) you can find me crocheting, knitting, photographing, writing, making pottery, needle felting, sewing, or creating nail art.

I like to work digitally, with my trusty iPad in hand everywhere I go, but am keen to bring a hand-made, organic and tactile look to my illustrations. I use methods that mimic hand made creations and value imperfection as part of this.

I’m a lover of the outdoors, animals, and the British countryside, with these themes often cropping up within my work. I live on the outskirts of Preston with my Fiancé and our two dogs (and our two cats and two lizards) and a stone’s throw away from the most beautiful views and landscapes to use as inspiration.
